Hardship Program – West Virginia Utility Assistance Program

Dollar Energy Fund’s West Virginia Utility Assistance Hardship Program provides one-time assistance grants that are applied directly to a limited-income household’s utility bill. Funding is limited and is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)

LIEAP is a federal program that provides financial benefits to low-income households for home energy bills. In West Virginia, the program is administered by the Department of Health and Human Resources. Available assistance includes cash benefits, which help low-income customers pay for their home energy costs, and crisis payments, which address emergency home energy situations. Your household income must be within certain limits to qualify.

Special Reduced Rate Service Program (SRRS)

The Special Reduced Rate Service Program (SRRS) was established by West Virginia state government to assist eligible participants in receiving a 20 percent discount from their utility company. If you are a recipient of SSI, WV WORKS, or receive Food Stamps, and over the age of 60 years old, you may be eligible.
