On May 20, 2016, Dollar Energy Fund welcomed a group of over 40 shooters to Nemacolin Woodlands Resort Shooting Academy for a fun-filled day of clay shooting and friendly competition at the 2nd Annual Sporting Clay Challenge.
Squads of four met at the Shooting Academy Lodge between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m., where they enjoyed breakfast and practice shots before meeting their trappers to begin their day of clay shooting. Participants ranged from novice to experienced shooters, all of whom were given safety training by the Shooting Academy staff before making their way through the 100-target, 15-station course.
Once all shooters returned to the lodge, Chad Quinn, Dollar Energy Fund’s CEO, gave a brief speech followed by a video promoting our upcoming Cool Down for Warmth and Golf Classic events.
An award was presented to Butch Hastings of Easley & Rivers, the top shooter of the day with a score of 82. He received a Cabela’s gift card and a gift certificate for 50 targets at the Shooting Academy.
A lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs concluded our day, as well as a silent auction and prize giveaway. There were many laughs throughout the day with friendly banter amongst the shooters. This event was a great place for people to catch up and relax while raising money and awareness for families who struggle to afford basic utility services.
All proceeds from the Sporting Clay Challenge will be matched by our partnering utility companies and will go directly toward helping limited-income families and individuals restore or maintain utility service.
Thank you to all who attended! We hope you enjoyed your day and we look forward to hosting you next year!
Your contribution directly supports an individual or family facing a utility crisis.
