November 12th, 2016
On Wednesday, November 16, guests from all over joined us at Hearth and Home Furnishings in Zelienople for the 8th Annual Warm Your Hearth, Touch a Heart Campaign Kick-Off Reception. With music by DJ Tom Menchak and delicious refreshments provided by the Springfield Grille, attendees mingled in the showroom and showed their support for the limited -income families who struggle to afford basic utility services.
Guests browsed more than 60 ticket and silent auction items, many of which were donated from local restaurants and organizations including Dollar Bank, Prima Capelli Salon, Diehl Automotive, Clifford’s Restaurant, First Watch Restaurant, Shu-Brew, Sabika Jewelry Consultant Brenda Lebe, Barb Kushner, Jim and Mimi Davidson, T&M Hardware, Aubrey’s Golf Course, Lularoe Ali Morrison, Johnson Winery, Jerry’s Car Wash, Goodwill, Soergel Orchards, Norwex by Leann Blasko, Peoples Natural Gas, Eva’s Tee House, Chad Slencak with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Enchanted Olive, Goodfellos Restaurant and Mathew Jewelers. Many of these companies have donated year after year, and we appreciate their continued support.
The event’s silent auction and ticket raffle alone raised approximately $5,000, including a generous match by Peoples Natural Gas and Peoples TWP. The store also donated proceeds from their Eggfest to Dollar Energy Fund earlier this year – which raised more than $2,300, also including a match from Peoples. So far, that brings the Warm Your Hearth Campaign’s fundraising total to over $7,300, not including last night’s ticket sales and additional donations.
The kick-off reception is part of a much larger fundraising campaign, and we are off to a great start! Beginning at this event through the end of the year, Hearth and Home Furnishings will donate a portion of their gas fireplace sales to Dollar Energy Fund.
Dollar Energy Fund would like to send a special thank you to Nancy Reader, Megan Murphy, Laura McDaid, and everyone at Hearth and Home Furnishings who brought this event to life. They share our passion for helping families who are facing a winter in the cold without basic utility services. Thank you to Peoples Natural Gas and Peoples TWP for matching all proceeds raised throughout the campaign. Also, thanks to Comcast Spotlight for their part in promoting the event and donating auction items.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended the event, donated and purchased auction items. We look forward to making a difference to even more families in the local community.
