We’ve been in the business of lifting others up for more than 32 years. Through partnerships with utility companies and community organizations, we’ve been able to build a model of charity that continues to assist thousands of limited-income families and individuals each year.
Who are those families and individuals?
They’re just like you; or they may even be you. Almost everyone has experienced financial hardship at one time in his or her life. Dollar Energy Fund seeks to address that hardship in the form of utility assistance. Our clients live all over the country. This year alone, we’ve provided approximately 76 grants in California, more than 11,000 in Pennsylvania, 155 in Kentucky, approximately 170 in Louisiana, 11,400 in Ohio, 145 in Tennessee, 160 in Texas, more than 1,800 in Virginia and 2,290 in West Virginia.
We serve a population of limited-income families and individuals who are struggling to restore or maintain the cost of utility services in their homes. In fact, more than 80 percent of our clients are employed, retired workers or disabled, and 62 percent have children 18 or under in the house.
We work with individuals who are earnestly trying to get back on their feet after an unexpected job loss, a death in the family or simply a temporary inability to make ends meet. One of the goals of Dollar Energy Fund is to provide valuable aid to individuals and families who are striving to become self-sufficient.
Over the years, we have provided more than $122 million in utility assistance grants to approximately 434,500 families and individuals and have grown to become the largest hardship fund in Pennsylvania and one of the largest in the country.
If you’re looking to donate to Dollar Energy Fund, we hope that information about our clients was helpful in making your decision. Every penny you contribute toward helping a family or senior citizen stay warm in the winter or cool in the summer is matched dollar-for-dollar by our partnering utility companies. You have the opportunity to make a real, visible difference in the lives of your neighbors. For more information about how to donate, click here.
